Description:
Sets-up and operates a buffing and polishing machine. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1) Sets-up and operates polishing lathe from print specifications.
2) Polishes instruments per blueprint utilizing a variety of grit belts and wheels while varying operating equipment’s Rpm’s to achieve desired finished.
3) Performs preventive maintenance and equipment upkeep including replacing worn components as necessary.
4) Performs various deburring, glassbeading, and passivation duties when needed.
5) Document time entry in the computer and complete necessary routers.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1) Maintain a neat and orderly work environment through daily and weekly cleaning procedures.
2) Assist in other areas of the production department when needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1) Knowledgeable with back stand polishing lathes, glass bead cabinets, degreasing machines, electro polishing/passivation tanks, heat treat furnaces and computers.
2) Able to read blueprints for finish specifications and critical dimensions.
3) Experience in a manufacturing facility.
4) Detail oriented and efficient.
3) Multi-tasked.
4) Able to work under general supervision and follow instructions.
5) Calipers, micrometers, indicators
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or its equivalent with 0-2 years experience.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
1) Varied amount of walking, standing with a large emphasis on sitting.
2) Occasional to frequent amount of bending/stooping, reaching or pushing/pulling.
3) Lifting/carrying maximum of 5 lbs. occasionally to 50 lbs.
4) Requires precise manual dexterity with tight tolerances.
5) Must be able to wear appropriate safety gear such as hearing protection, safety glasses, Masks, etc.
6) Requires normal physical mobility, agility, and coordination including eye-hand.
7) Requires above average concentration with normal memory.
8) Normal ability to see with sense of touch.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to dust and high noise level. Non-smoking building. Ability to work overtime and extended work hours required.
